Art Show Contest & Charity Auction
Art Show Contest
The Art Show Contest is a place for everyone to show off their artistic skills. It’s also a place to sell your artwork and get a chance to win prizes. Entering is free with your convention badge.
We accept artwork done in the themes of anime, video games, sci-fi/fantasy, and variations thereof (please see the Rules for the full list). We accept artwork in 2D (drawings, paintings, digital graphics, photography, etc.) and 3D (sculptures, sewing/crochet, various crafting products, etc.) art styles. Nothing made using a pre-existing pattern is allowed.
All entries will be voted on by the convention attendees, and eligible to win awards and prizes in the following categories: Best 2D, Best 3D, Best Junior (for artists aged 14 years and under), and Best of Show. Voting takes place all day Friday and Saturday, so entering Friday does give you a slight advantage.
You must be able to pick up your artwork or money (if it’s sold) on Sunday between 2:30pm and 3:30pm. Entries are only accepted in person at the convention during the drop off times.
- Thursday – drop off 8:00pm-9:00pm
- Friday – drop off 11:00am-1:00pm
- Saturday – drop off 11:00am-1:00pm
- Sunday – pick up 2:30pm-3:30pm
Please read ALL the entry rules before committing to the Art Show Contest.
The Art Show will be hosting a silent charity auction to raise money for breast cancer research at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Charity items are not part of the voting contest nor will the artist receive any money from sold pieces. ALL proceeds will go to the charity. Please email the Art Show if you would like to donate anything to the Charity Auction.

Miles Sanstrom will be running the Pokemon video game tournament this year at the Anime Banzai Convention! He can’t wait to run the tournament for you all. The rules this year are standard VGC rules, which are:
- Only Pokemon Sun or Moon games can be used.
- Double Battle 2017 World Championship Rules.
- Pokemon must be caught, bred, or received in Sun or Moon (must have black clover on status screen.
- Only Pokemon in the Alola Pokedex can be used, including Alola regional varient Pokemon.
- The following Pokemon cannot be used: Zygarde, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, Magearna, and Marshadow.
- NO Mega Stones can be held by any Pokemon.
- No duplicate Pokemon or held items.
That all said, we encourage that anyone who would like to attend the event, please attend one of our leagues. We have a list of all the Utah leagues on our Utah Pokemon Facebook page. We encourage this so you have a POP ID, which helps us register you in the tournament faster. And if you are interested in attending officially sanctioned Pokemon events in the future, like our upcoming Utah regionals in the spring, you can be prepared for that. A POP ID is not required, but highly recommended. We hope to see many of you at the tournament! We’re going to have some awesome prizes that will be announced at the tournament. See you all there!
For players interested in championship point and Play! Points, this tournament is not officially sanctioned as Miles is not an official Pokemon Tournament Organizer, just a Professor. However, we have all kinds of great incentives for you all to play. Plus, who wouldn’t love to play Pokemon with a bunch of us nerds?!
This is a three-day cosplay-making competition! You have one (1) hour to make a cosplay out of the materials we provide you and your team of up to five (5) individuals – so drag your friends along! The winners of Friday’s and Saturday’s Speed Cosplay competitions get to move on to Sunday’s competition, where there will be a final showdown of the best of the best to win a prize.
